What I Learned in MCOM 225

In MCOM 225, I learned that I am horrible at things like journals and blogs. I lack the discipline to sit down and write things on a regular basis. Perhaps next time it is a requirement I will not fail so horribly. Other things I have learned are more important. The internet is no longer that magical being it used to be. I have at least a small appreciation for how it works now. The video editing process is also no longer foriegn. It was really very fun to learn and edit the videos. I also learned how to set up and do an interview with all the lighting and camera business. As a result of the partner podcast project, I also have quite extensive knowledge about traction sporting, an unexpected but still semi-useful bit of information.

The Death of Superman

The first photo in my photo story project. It is a tragic story of sorts. Superman and Lois are in love and are very happy together, but Lois has a creepy stalker, Lex (seen peeking from the doorway in the background of this picture) who is determined to have her for his own.

Interview with Men's Basketball Head Coach

This is a video of Scott Nagy, the head coach of the SDSU men's basketball team. It is right after a loss to Utah State, and he is a bit melancholy.

Nervous President?

It looks like the Republicans are getting a little bit nervous about the upcoming elections.

Bush is no longer allowed to use the phrase "stay the course" according to the Washington Post.

The Democrats are pretty happy about all of this. Some of them have been using the phrase in their political ad campaigns, and the party itself has adopted its own slogan, "new direction." They don't know what this new direction is, but they are clamoring for change.

This whole hullabaloo is pretty ridiculous. They are wasting time and money coming up with new phrases and slogans and scrambling to defend and wash away previous statements, all the while trying to jump on the new slogan bandwagon which doesn't even propose to do anything. Maybe they should redirect their energy to actually solving the problem rather than becoming entrapped in this trivial argument.

The Map Makers

I just checked out this article about map makers. It was pretty interesting. I had never really considered the idea that the maps and directions found on mapquest and other sites like that are actually checked out and made by people. It kind of sounds like an interesting job. It is pretty amazing how they can use technology to do their work rather than having to actually go out and drive around every street in America...wow.
